After fondly recalling memories of his grandfather’s favorite tailor shop, Portuguese designer Rui Alves returned to the past to find inspiration for the Tailor Sofa. The idea was to celebrate the sofa in all its forms with a structured yet light shape and a sturdy wooden frame, designed for daily use. Now available in a new material – smoked stained oak – the frame and its foam-shell-covered upholstery are formed with attention to detail. Wooden joints carefully frame the round shape of the sofa, giving the piece a handmade look and feel.

Like that tailor shop that inspired Alves, the Tailor Sofa was designed to be authentic, with everything on display so the beautiful oak wood is on display and not hidden, as it is normally done in sofa design. The sofa has a light and airy appearance, the structured upholstered part supported by the wooden frame for a comfortable and practical sofa for everyday use.
